Arrival and departure

We recommend you arrive on Sunday, 26 February, in time for the morning session on Monday.

The workshop  ends at noon on Wednesday, 1 March, so it may be possible for participants to leave later that afternoon.

 

Getting to the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB)

✈️ Bochum is served by Düsseldorf airport (~40 min train ride) and Cologne Bonn airport (~1h30 train ride). 

🚂 By train: you gan get to Bochum in 3h from Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Brussels, and in 5h from Paris, Berlin and Munich.

🚃 Getting to the university from Bochum main station: take the U35 metro line towards Hustadt and get off at the stop Ruhr-Universität.

🏫 The workshop will take place in the room GAFO 02/252, a 10 min walk through campus from the university metro station.

 

⚠️ On Tuesday there will be no public transport in Bochum due to strike.We will be sharing cabs to go from the hotel to campus in the morning, and in the afternoon to come back to the city center before the social dinner. Alternatively, you can also rent out a city bike in front of the main station (20 min ride).

 

Accommodation

We will book a number of rooms at the ibis Bochum Zentrum hotel, conveniently located only a few meters away from Bochum main station. If you wish to stay there, let us know in your registration form and we will book a room for you. We will get back to you about the payment once the reservations are complete.

The hotel cost is €67 per night, breakfast included.

We will be supporting the participation of a small number of students by covering their accommodation costs at the ibis hotel. Please feel free to apply for this support in the registration form.

 

Fees

Thanks to financial support by the Graduate School of the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1491 we are able to waive the participation fees to this workshop, and to cover lunches at the university restaurants and the workshop dinner on Tuesday.

 

Meals

Participants will receive a daily voucher for the university restaurants, which include vegan-friendly options.

All participants are invited to a social dinner on Tuesday evening, at Zur Altstadt Bochum, a low-key venue with German cuisine in the city center, 10 min walk from the main station.
